~ Texas Humor & Countryside & History ~

Texas humor ... when we saw this sign & the
cemetery behind it, we were cracking up!

Texas countryside ... the good ol' days gone before us ...

Augustine Haiduser, a Czech leader, scholar, journalist,
statesman served in the Confederate Army 1864-85

A piece of Texan history ... what happened
behind these walls, were there pioneers that
fought of the Indians, did Davey Crockett
visit ... were they rich, or poor ... did children
romp thru the fields as their parents worked
their fingers to the bone for a living ...

Monument tomb hill ...
remains of the Texans killed in the Dawson Massacre

Henry Kreische 1821-82
An influential German immigrant he purchased 175 acres & was a stone mason

Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery

Isn't this just the most awesome ...

A bridge to the valley walk ...

Thar ur snakes in them thar grasses, M'am. Welllllll, then I
ain'ta goin' ... purdy path tho ...

The trees in Texas have such a beautiful form ...

A vintage pic ...

Truly I wasn't meant for living in those days
back when but I so love looking at the remnants
of yore ...

Museum collection ...

Oh, those were the days! & that was probably a pretty penny back then!

Museum items ...

I cannot imagine washing clothes in that tub &
working that wringer ...

Museum treasures ...

The valley gorge ...

Remnants of the men who lost their lives in the Dawson Massacre tomb.

Dawson massacre monument overlooking the valley ...

Monument Hill is hallowed grounds of the remains of the men who perished in the struggle for TX independence.

In 1842 Texan forces battled at Salado Creek to
repel Mexican invaders who captured nearby
San Antonio.

The valley is breathtakingly beautiful, so peaceful ...

You can hear the gentle rush of the water from
afar ...

IF you look closely to the middle left side of the tree you
will see a black image ... it is a huge bird that made funny
noises ...

Wandering thru the countryside, the clouds
were awesome ...

A charming little town ...

Time is ticking away ...

What a lovely building & monument with flags surrounding the entire premises.
