~ Pink & White Southern Homes ~ Pink Saturday

On our trip to Savannah (2) weeks ago, we saw many beautiful homes that are various architectural styles & colors. I hope you will enjoy the exquisite southern beauties, the awesome courtyard peeks & breathtaking foliage, with touches of PINK here & there.

Please join Miss Beverly, our wonderful PINK SATURDAY hostess, & the other lovely ladies participating ...

The wonderful old iron gates & porches are so welcoming ... some with gazebo, statues, others with fountains & ponds.

I love the romance of the sweeping entry stairs to southern homes ...

I imagine the clippity clop of the horse carriages
arriving with guests for their winter galas ...

Sweeping gowns, capes, hats with plumes ...

The majestic elegance of homes,
beneath the powerful shade trees ...

The babbling fountains ...

I wonder how many courtships
blossomed in the beautiful gardens ...

The fading pinks with the vintage turquoise
lounge chair of years gone by ...

she has her own personality & story to tell beneath these weathered boards ...

An afternoon gathering on the many rockers of her porch in the heat of the day, or the dewy
warm eves ...

In the heat of the day they gather in the yard of the old
pink 'lady' to enjoy the breeze ...

This darling little gingerbread studio stands so
sweetly dressed in pink with her heart attic window ... can't you just picture the romance of her all dolled up inside with the lace, ribbons & bows, crafts strewn about, a soft chair & cup of tea ... maybe a mint julep?

I wonder if this home was part of a huge 'plantation' that had been parceled off for the need of monies which often was
the case ...

or is this one the home of the plantation owner that spent their winters here, rarely staying on
on the plantation except during the warm spring
& summer months ...

having their cotillion's during the winter months ... sewing in their parlors ... gathering for their
daily bible readings or passages from their
favorite books ....

Visitors usually spent months at a time because of the distances they traveled ...

Where love blossomed both in the hearts of lovers ... & in the flower beds ...

even beneath this beautiful fountain ...

did the balconies give way to seeing the soldiers during the Civil War march thru ...

or the births of many generations to begin inside these walls ...

(this beautiful home is now an awesome B&B)

What mysteries or secrets do these walls hold ...
are treasures hidden beneath the boards? ... or
messages scrawled on the boards that hold this
home strongly together ...

I hope you have enjoyed these beautiful treasures of beauty that are so elegantly kept, groomed & enjoyed ... the details are just amazing of each home, to pause & reflect the times, the joys, the hardships ... persevered, a living history.
