***I hope you will take the time to visit our previous
post of one fabulous artist & his exquisite art.
Just imagine ewww-golly avacado green, harvest
gold throughout our entire home. I could not take the horrid wallpaper & colors, so when hubs went to work I started tearing things apart ... the 'wallpaper' was actually stick'um paper that left HUGE holes in the wall board. 'Oh, wellll, he'll get over it', I silently thought. That wasn't the look I received from him when he walked in the door, lmty.
Now I am on a mission to reno the entire kitchen first & tomove quickly throughout the house. I painted the cupboards
& the paint peeled off ... hubs took pity on my tears of
frustration & sanded everything down for me to repaint. It
worked, the cupboards were great.
The curtains are simply vintage pillow cases, a small slit on each end, a rod put thru to hang, a hand crocheted runner
as the valance, & lovely tiebacks, tied bow showing on
on the backside so when you look in the window you see a
pretty bow.
Next that avacado counter top was ripped
out & in with Corian ... & a soft creamy white
tile backdrop with a hint of light beige running
thru it. The roses that you see are simply
Wallie's paper accents glued over my original
choice of tile florals, I changed my mind after a
couple of years.
The vintage German canisters were a gift from a
dear friend that blend beautifully.
All the chandeliers in our home were hand designed &
created by Gail @ http://www.etsy.com/shop/shabbycottageshoppe
She is a fabulous creative artisan. This petite chandie
adds the perfect touch over the sink area.
This chandelier hangs over our 'island', created by Gail.
I had this one done in pink & white.
Still not satisfied I had an artist come & paint
roses over the doors to the basement & the
laundry room, under the chandelier over the
kitchen table & all around the entire kitchen
bulkhead.
I am standing in front of the bar area looking into
the eating area of the kitchen. Another chandie
created for the bar by Gail.
Then came the glass door
knobs ... pink for the upper cupboards, crystal for the drawers & green for the lower cupboards. Fabulous!
You will notice the rose cascades on the bulkhead ...
Mill in Napavine, WA not long after she arrived
from Ireland in the early 1900s. Mr. Somerville
gave her her cook table when she & G'pa Bob
got married (they met at the mill). It used to
have a huge back on it for all her utensils &
spices/flour/sugar but I do not know what
happened to it. I treasure this piece so ... could
not part with it so it is our 'island' that we put
granite on top of to keep as the focal point of
the kitchen.
This is our eating area in the kitchen ... the door leads into
the laundry room. To the left of the table are french doors
leading to our (3) terraces. To the right of this room is our
TV room/office.
Gail created this chandelier just a couple months
ago when I took down the ceiling fan. Her detail
for beauty is unbelievable.

To this gorgeous lighting ...
Our tea area sits directly behind the kitchen table. I so love
this setting ...
I don't often change things in my home, they grow 'roots',
but I do enjoy playing with different settings on this table.
These match strikes were my G'ma Maggie's. They hang
on the all near the basement door. Everything G'ma &
Mother had was green, for Irish we are.
And, of course, my passion for silhouettes is this match box
on the other side of the basement door wall.
