~ Our Holland Trip ~ (Middaugh ancestry)

Just a quiet day to take a tour with us on our trip to Holland, so grab a cup of tea, & join me.

(Please lift Sherry in prayer as she is still having issues with this pneumonia ~ http://countrywingsinphoenix.blogspot.com/)

It is the most beautiful country that continues to beckon us back for a 4th time. We have been throughout the entire country ... my paternal ancestors, the Middaugh's (Middag is the original spelling) came over in the mid-1600's on the De Bever arriving in New York, eventually moving into NJ & PA before moving into OH & then to MO. Our ancestor was one of the original petitioners to form the city of Brooklyn. Another ancestor & his cousin were the only people hung as Tory spies during the American Revolution.

The canals are absolutely breathtaking with gigantic ships travelling right thru the middle of towns.

Holland is one of the cleanest countries we have visited ... spit shine everywhere. You can see elderly & young alike pedaling their bikes everywhere. The countryside is so rich in greens, neatly groomed.

The windmills are beyond description ... I love just viewing them.

One of our family cemeteries.

Harold peering out ...

A bridge lifting to accommodate passage of a boat or ship.

The waterways are full of boats & ships ...

The homes are nestled along the waterways ...

At dusk ...

Awesome settings like this everywhere in this picturesque country...

Stately against the horizon ...

A beautiful entry into a village ...

A lone fisherman ...

Thatched roofs are plentiful in the countryside ...
