On Christmas Eve we gave the kid-lings a 'treasure hunt' piece of paper with a passage from the Bible, Ten Commandments or social etiquette & a clue where to find their gift(s) ... after they tore through the house looking for the gift from the clues, they had to bring the gift down & continue with the next clue to find a gift. They had a ball, absolutely, on the Treasure Hunt, the squeals & chatter & glee were delightful ... & they had to remember & repeat when asked the rest of the day, what the passages were they were given.
It is a fun but fabulous way of making learning fun, while enjoying the search, & learning the words of God.
Also, every night after dinner in the month of December we would go into the front room, sitting around the Christmas tree & talk about 'memories' ... it was such a delightful time to hear what the kids had to say ... & sometimes we'd read stories aloud, share a memory, or just enjoy being with one another.
