~ The Autumn Leaves...... Pink Saturday Feedsack Memories ~

Of my collection of 3,000+ feedsacks, I have
some that I treasure ... this one represents
each of the (4) seasons ... I love them flapping in the wind ...

~ My Mother actually did make our underwear & I so remember my sister & I 'hitchin our drawers' up as we ran around, the elastic not holding them up much. ~

THANK YOU Miss Beverly for hosting PINK SATURDAY @ http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/
Please join the other lovely Pink Saturday ladies.

~ Feedsack Underwear ~
(The author is unknown)

When I was a maiden fair
Mama made our underwear.
With seven kids and Dad's poor pay
How could she buy lingerie?
Monograms and fancy stitches
Were not on our feed sack britches -

Panty waists that stood the test
With Purina across the chest -
Little pants, the best of all
With seams that I can still recall.
Harvesters were gleaning wheat
Right across the little seat

Tougher than a grizzly bear
Was our feed sack underwear.
Plain or fancy, two feet wide,
Stronger than a hippo's hide.
Through the years, each Jack and Jill
Wore this garb against their will.

Waste not, want not, we soon learned...
A penny saved is a penny earned!
Dresses, curtains, dish towels too
And pillow slips to name a few,
But the best beyond compare
Was always our feed sack underwear!

~ Pray For Our Babies ~

May I introduce you to one remarkable young lady I met recently, & applaud. Lila Rose started at age 9 helping her grandmother in her efforts of educating people about saving lives ... babies, from abortion. (Lila reaches tens of thousands of people every month with the pro-life message through the Liveaction.org and Herestheblood.com web sites.)

Lila Rose is a student activist at UCLA who has dedicated herself to building a culture of life and ending abortion. At age fifteen, Lila founded Live Action, which is now a growing nonprofit with several chapters in California. Live Action is a youth-led organization and uses new media to educate and mobilize both local and national audiences to demand accountability from the abortion industry and human rights for the pre-born. *** (In fall 2006, as a freshman at UCLA, Lila founded the pro-life student magazine The Advocate, administered through the new UCLA student chapter of Live Action. The Advocate has since gone national and is distributed at over 80 different high school and college campuses across the country with a circulation of nearly 100,000.)

Lila has led numerous undercover stings through Live Action, exposing corruption and illegal activity within Planned Parenthood, the Nation's number one Abortion provider. “The Mona Lisa Project,” vividly illustrates how Planned Parenthood’s ‘abortion-first mentality’ leads it to disregard state laws meant to protect young girls, instead sending them back into the arms of their sexual abusers. It has prompted officials in several states to take action against Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood affiliates are the subject of ongoing investigations in Indiana and Alabama, and the Tennessee legislature recently voted to end up to $1.1 million in taxpayer subsidies to the abortion provider. Similarly, the Alabama Department of Health put the Birmingham clinic under severe investigation as a result of the undercover video taped there. The clinic has been put on a one-year probation as the investigation continues to uncover illegal and wrongful proceedings. Also released is a collection of phone calls made too the Planned Parenthood Development offices under the name of “The Racism Project,” which captured Planned Parenthood employees behaving hospitably to and receiving donations from an actor posing as an outspoken racist.

Lila is currently releasing the "The Rosa Acuna Project" which reveals Planned Parenthood counselors and abortionists manipulating patients and giving medical misinformation.

In addition to traveling within the U.S. and sharing her experiences with people of all ages and from all walks of life, Lila has brought her pro-life message to Ireland, Mexico and Canada in the last year.

In 2008 and 2010 respectively, Lila was awarded the inaugural Life Prize by the Gerard Health Foundation and the Young Leader Award by Susan B. Anthony’s List.

A frequent guest on radio and television programs, Lila has been featured on The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity's America, The Glenn Beck Show, EWTN, and The Laura Ingraham Show. Numerous newspapers and blogs have also covered her work, including feature pieces by Reuters, the LA Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, and National Review. The Associated Press and UPI frequently publish stories on Live Action's work, and Lila speaks at national and international pro-life events.

~ Have You Ever Had A Quickie ... Hmmmm?!~

Ohhh, c'mon now ... you KNOW I mean a trip ...
chuckle!

Hop on in & let's take a wee glimpse of that beautiful place called God's country ... By God, It's West Virginia, so they like to remind us!

Does this old Chevy bring back memories? You bet'cha!

And, right there in the middle of the screen is the most BEAUTIFUL eagle you can barely see, just to the right of that left 'eye'. There were 6 of these gorgeous creatures but they wouldn't hold still long enough for me to capture

And, this is often seen ... amazing how they just open the front door & 'pitch' ...

Now you know my passion for barns ... I love the fluffy clouds surrounding this amazing building.
It makes me ponder ... was it a tobacco barn or did it hold cattle ... probably cattle. Tobacco
barns usually had one whole end open ...

Just a pretty countryside home surrounded in serenity

This is so like the southern homes, tall majestic trees, shading the home from the summer heat

And the pristine farms vs the 'open the front door pitching ones' ... such a lovely sight to behold

The babbling brooks & creeks & streams that flow softly from the mountain sides, so calming

Does curiosity stoke you with the life events that were held within the barns of yore ... weddings, baptisms, funerals, church meetings, family gatherings ...

The breathtaking beauty of the valleys & mountains that sweep one's imagination away ...
God truly worked hard to share His passion for art on this earth we are so blessed with

Left to the weather this old equipment barn struggles to survive the elements of weathering

The towering stone mountains that hold the coal & life for this state, the livelihood of many who have provided for each of us in some way

The powerful dome of this building (a government facility) towering over this awesome religious painting ... truly making a statement of their strong beliefs holding Him up in many ways as you travel in WV

What more can you show in 8 hours of a 'forever trip' that didn't happen ... I think not much, the beauty says it all.

How's that for a 'quickie'?

Have a beautiful day ...

~ Love Is ... ~ Monday Chuckles

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, "But

Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!" I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye...

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 63 My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

5... My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?''

"You're both old," he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. "What's it about?" he asked. "I don't know," she replied. "I can't read.."

7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I

continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself!"

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights."
9 When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure."
"Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised. "Mine says I'm 4 to 6."
10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today."
The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting," she said, "how do you make babies?"
"It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."

~ Jesus & the Dog ~

Welcome to Spiritual Sundays with Charlotte & Ginger http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/
Here is a heart warming photo from the news in Sana Catarina, Brazil. A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard. During the night the folks came across this sight. An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away, so he was there all night.

We should all have the good sense of this dog & curl up in Jesus’ lap from time to time.

~ Pink Saturday Master Bath Remodel ~

Our master bath was originally 2 separate areas so we knocked out the wall to adjoin into a larger more attractive room The walls are a very soft shrimpy pale pink.

HELP BEAT CANCER! This is cancer awareness month.

The lights are actually lamp shades that Donny @ Brass & Copper Shop in Frederick, MD created for us.

The beautiful beaded & embroidered soft creamy curtains I am using over the windows & the shower are from BBBeyond.

I took a curtain panel & draped it over the window,
puddling the curtains in front of the shower

This border extends into our master suite

The vanity is new, I love the twist trim

How it opens up the room, gives depth &
light into the vanity area, is fabulous

The sewing box was mine that I had my
precious friend Celeste @ http://larearose.blogspot.com/
paint. Isn't it just dreamy? She sure
has that touch for roses, doesn't she!

The old salad jar was inspired for me to
create after viewing all the beauties that
my sweet friend Sandi creates @ http://waysidetreasures-sandi.blogspot.com/

This is my dream door ... Ambiancedoors.com has the
most elegant romantic doors, ever. This is Provence.
It allows openess, light & beauty to extend between the
master bath & suite.

I love to just go sit up there & LOOK at this door & the
changes ...

The mirror I found in my friend Judy's antique shop.
Judy owns the Westminster Antique Mall, Westminter, MD.
I saw it & said 'THAT'S mine, where's Judy!' She gave me a fabulous 'deal' on this beauty.

A closer look at the beading & embroidery on the
curtains ...

I didn't know what to put on this wall & remembered I had this thrown on the freezer from when we closed down all our shops ... it blended beautifully!

These pictures are not expensive yet added a feminine touch ... & of course, one has red-hair ... had to do that.

It all pulled together ...

There's that red-haired lovely!

A touch of 'pretty' for the closet door ...

This has surpassed even my wildest dreams of what I could create in these 2 rooms, coming together ...

What do you think ...

Still have to have a silhouette here & there ... she was a perfect fit for the room ...

I am open for suggestions to do more ...

The vegetable dish had a broken lid, but she sits beautifully on the cake stand ... love the sweet delicate roses.
