This is the month of HEARTS & LOVE! Be kind, love your HEART & yourself ... learn the signs/symptoms of heart disease. Heart attacks/disease for women are different in many ways than symptoms for men.

All my adult life I said I'd have heart issues by age 50. When I pointed out the issues I was having, my first Dr. @ K-Perm Medical patted my hand (oh, yes she did) & said 'Mrs. Ford, women your age don't need to worry about heart problems'. I reminded her of our family history (Dad dropping dead ae 60, Uncle massive heart attacks ae 50, P-G'pa dropping dead mid-6os with no warning & so on) & was dismissed. This continued with several other Drs. over a 10 year period until I was nearly a non-functioning human ... then I got the attention of a NURSE. Even worse the EKGs showed my medical heart issues & not ONE of these Drs. ever said a word to me ... black & white in front of their eyes to view all that time over the 20+ years I was with that medical group. I must tell you, even the head of cardiology at that medical facility even told me I had no heart issues, he sure did.

I am everso grateful to a nurse practitioner, Gail C. who listened & referred me a cardiac nurse practitioner, Sue W. who REALLY listened to me. Sue referred me to a private practice, Dr. Alan S., a wonderful brilliant cardiac surgeon that literally SAVED MY LIFE ... Thank you Dr. Alan, my heart & I love you dearly.
